General effect characteristics

  • Each effect has its own icon
  • The icon of the effect selected is animated in the effect selection window
  • Effects can be activated or blocked separately
  • LED display row of input/output signal level on the effect header
  • LFO (automated parameter modifier) unit
  • LFO on/off button
  • LFO speed setting knob
  • Speed selection keys linked to the tempo (BPM) of the music
  • Effect strength (dry/wet) setting knob
  • Every knob, button, and parameter can be associated with either direction of the touchpad
  • Two types of effect parameters: continuous or with fixed values
  • Overall effect volume setting knob (master dry/wet)

Activating effects

  • Effects can be activated and controlled either through the notebook's built-in touchpad, or by clicking on the virtual touchpad
  • Touchpad control on/off key
  • Use the "FX Stop" button (or the space bar) to turn all effects off at once
  • HOLD key to keep effects activated without touching the controls

Virtual touchpad

  • By clicking on the virtual touchpad with the mouse it becomes possible to simulate the real touchpad
  • The point where the touchpad is being touched is clearly indicated
  • The movement along the touchpad remains visible for a while
  • The parameters associated with the touchpad directions are clearly indicated
    • In case of continuous parameters
      • The scale is visible
      • A slide can be used to set the range in which the touchpad should modify the given parameter
    • In case of parameters with fixed values
      • The touchpad is divided into as many bands as the number of values the given parameter can take
      • Any band can be turned on/off
      • In whichever band the touchpad is touched, that parameter value will be selected
  • Switch between axes key
  • Change axis direction key

Effect configuration band

  • Maximum 9 effect configuration tabs
  • Rapid switching between configurations with the numerical keys (1-9)
  • Individual description can be added to each configuration
  • Save configurations
  • Load saved configurations

Channels

  • Ability to handle two channels (input sound sources)
  • Effects can be added to the two channels separately
  • Possibility to turn channels on/off
  • Multicolored row of LEDs for captured audio volume
  • Multicolored row of LEDs for output audio volume
  • Output volume knob
  • Distortion protection on the output volume (built-in compressor-limiter)

Live unit

  • Can be attached to any external audio source, for example DJ mixer, CD, turntable, microphone
  • Minimal latency if an ASIO sound card is used

Capture unit

  • Real-time input from other DJ and music programs (e.g. Virtual DJ, Traktor, ...)
  • This function is compatible with all programs that support the ASIO standard
  • Touchpad command works also in case that the window of a program other than Music FX Live is active

File unit

  • Supported audio file formats: MP3, WAV
  • Copies the track author and title from the MP3 file
  • Playlist
    • Add files
    • Add the content of a folder
    • Delete from the list
    • Randomized playlist
    • Tracks already played are marked
    • "Delete all marked" button
    • Total playlist running time displayed
  • Add files or folders with the drag&drop method
  • Command buttons: play, stop, pause, previous, next, open
  • Slide pointer indicates and modifies position (jump to any point within a track)
  • Repeat modes: off, current track only, entire playlist
  • Random mode: on/off

BPM counter and synchronizer unit

  • Separate BPM counter units for the two channels
  • Automatic BPM count mode
  • Manual BPM count (by pressing the "TAP" button)
  • BPM displayed to two decimal digits (e.g. 129.36)

Audio recording

  • Audio recording option in MP3 or WAV formats
  • Actual audio is recorded (including any effects)
  • Automatic file numbering at the start of the recording

Graphics and user interface

  • Elaborate and modern user interface
  • Designed for DJs by DJs
  • Fade and animation for enhanced visuals
  • Lights and displays illuminate the area

Languages

  • The descriptions on the user interface are in English
  • In certain parts of the program descriptions can be displayed either in English or in Hungarian; these are the following:

    • Tooltips
    • Help

Movement simulation unit

  • Records the movement of your finger on the touchpad
  • Playback option for the recorded movement
  • Playback speed can be adjusted to the tempo of the music (possible to select to which channel it should adjust)
  • Playback modes: forwards, backwards, alternating
  • Playback repeat option on/off
  • Recorded movement can be shifted horizontally or vertically

Settings

  • Separate audio devices (sound cards) can be set for the two channels (in case of ASIO the same sound card can be used for both channels)
  • ASIO 2.0 support for minimal latency
  • Functions can be associated to the keys
  • Functions can be associated to the touchpad buttons

Warnings

  • Audio distortion warning light
  • Low battery warning light
  • Processor overload warning light
  • Pop-up warning in case of low battery
  • Pop-up warning in case you are running out of space on the hard disk while recording audio
